🧢 Visit Utrecht Instead of Amsterdam

If you're looking for a charming Dutch city that offers a different experience from Amsterdam, we recommend visiting Utrecht. Located just a one-hour train ride from ’s-Hertogenbosch, Utrecht offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern vibrancy. Known for its medieval architecture, tree-lined canals, and welcoming atmosphere, Utrecht is a fantastic alternative to busier cities.

Tips for your trip to Utrecht:

  • Getting there: Trains run frequently between ’s-Hertogenbosch and Utrecht Centraal, with a journey time of about 1 hour. You can find schedules and tickets on the NS.nl website or App.
  • What to explore: Rent a bike or explore on foot to enjoy Utrecht’s cozy streets, historic squares, and beautiful parks. Don’t miss the Dom Tower area for a true taste of Dutch history.
  • Dining out: Enjoy canal-side dining at one of the cafes along the Oudegracht or explore the bustling restaurants in the Neude or Janskerkhof squares.
  • For more ideas on what to do in Utrecht, check out Visit Utrecht for insider tips and more.

Tailored Programmes based on Participant Number

Start time: 8:45 AM End time: 4:30 PM

Today the programme will be divided across all participants, allowing multiple visits to take place at the same time. Your assigned number, given on Monday (start of the Programme), determines your specific schedule.

Today is dedicated to the aging population and their related care needs in physical, cognitive, and psychological areas. In the morning, you will participate in two workshops: one on ‘the social approach’ at the Boswijk nursing home location and one on palliative care at the Magnolia location. In the afternoon, you will take part in various program components within Magnolia.

Boswijk is a (home) where you can be yourself and continue your own way of life, even when dementia causes you to lose more and more control over your life. Boswijk is characterized by small-scale living environments and a well-developed community life that residents and their loved ones can join. The dedicati- on of our staff and volunteers, and the involvement and cooperation with family members, is characteristic of ‘our village,’ as we like to see Boswijk.

Magnolia is a residential center for the mostly older people who need intensive 24-hour care due to psychiatric problems, often in combination with somatic health issues. The treatment and guidance focus on maintaining stabilization and skills, ensuring a high quality of life, with well-being and happy living at the forefront. There is a strong emphasis on health and a healthy lifestyle.
