Objectives

 

1. Foundational Mental Health Competencies

  • Apply essential helping skills such as active listening, empathy, and de‑escalation.
  • Demonstrate cultural and diversity awareness.
  • Enhance mental health literacy and risk assessment skills.
  • Engage in evidence‑based psychoeducation and mental health promotion.
  • Prioritise self‑care and support colleagues.
  • Support recovery‑oriented approaches.

 

2. Intersectoral Collaboration and Communication

  • Understand roles across sectors and local care systems.
  • Facilitate safe and effective referrals.
  • Collaborate with professionals across sectors.
  • Contribute to service improvement through shared best practices.

 

3. Systems Thinking and Sustainable Practices

  • Apply systemic thinking to mental health services.
  • Identify opportunities for capacity‑building and continuous learning.
  • Advocate for sustainable actions across sectors.

Day 1

  • Module 1: Introductions and setting the stage for mental health needs and gaps
  • Module 2: Multidisciplinary approach and foundational helping skills
  • Module 3: Mental health literacy and understanding risk factors
  • Module 4: Risk assessment and roles in early intervention

 

Day 2

  • Module 5: Navigating wider support and care systems
  • Module 6: Referring and helping individuals navigate services
  • Module 7: Collaborating with professionals across sectors
  • Module 8: Final reflection and application in participants’ workplaces
