Core Training


The Core Training aims to develop foundational mental health competencies and foster intersectoral collaboration to support integrated mental health care.

 

Objectives

1. Foundational Mental Health Competencies

  • Apply essential helping skills such as active listening, empathy, and de-escalation. 
  • Demonstrate cultural and diversity awareness. 
  • Enhance mental health literacy and risk assessment skills. 
  • Engage in evidence-based psychoeducation and mental health promotion. 
  • Prioritise self-care and support colleagues. 
  • Support recovery-oriented approaches.

2. Intersectoral Collaboration and Communication

  • Understand roles across sectors and local care systems. 
  • Facilitate safe and effective referrals. 
  • Collaborate with professionals across sectors.
  • Contribute to service improvement through shared best practices.   

3. Systems Thinking and Sustainable Practices

  • Apply systemic thinking to mental health services.
  • Identify opportunities for capacity-building and continuous learning. 
  • Advocate for sustainable actions across sectors.

Day 2:​

  • Navigating wider support and care systems​

  • Referring and helping individuals navigate services​

  • Collaborating with professionals across sectors​

  • Final reflection and application in participants’ workplaces​
