The Zagreb School of Medicine (ZSM), part of the University of Zagreb in Croatia, stands as the largest educational medical institution in the country, boasting a significant number of medical and postgraduate students. Affiliated with the Zagreb University Hospital Centre and the Psychiatric Clinic Vrapče, the School offers comprehensive education in psychological medicine and psychiatry for medical students, psychiatry trainees, nurses, social workers, and other mental health professionals. The ZSM will serve as the main base for the training and will liaise and coordinate the activities with all the other partners of the exchange programmes. On the first day of the programme, here the participants will have to opportunity to learn about the functioning of the mental health services in Croatia through interactive sessions with the staff members. During the visits, the ZSM members will guide the group through the exchange programme journey.

EU-PROMENS prioritizes Community-Based Mental Health Care (CBMH) and human rights in selecting host organizations, encompassing services beyond psychiatric hospitals, such as primary care and community mental health centers. Our focus includes enhancing mental health services across partner hubs through multisectoral coordination and professional upskilling.

  • Humana Nova is more than just a social enterprise; it is a community dedicated to environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and economic empowerment situated in the town of Čakovec.
  • Centar Stančić is a social care institution under the direct authority of the Ministry of Labour, Pension, Family, and Social welfare, providing social services to over 600 children with disabilities and adults with intellectual or mental disabilities. 
  • The Health Center Zagreb — Center is the largest health center in the Republic of Croatia thet provides accessible, continuous, comprehensive, and integrated healthcare services.
  • UNUO (in Croatian: Udruga Najosjetljivijih U Osposobljavanju standing for the association for the most vulnerable in training) is an association working with people with disabilities children without adequate parental care, and children in disadvantaged positions through the art of gastronomy for the last 15 years.
  • Društvo za psihološku pomoć (DPP) is a non-profit and non-governmental organization founded in 1993, primarily as a response to the consequences of the war for the well-being and mental health of the population in the Republic of Croatia. 
  • Center for Professional Rehabilitation Zagreb is a facility in Zagreb, Croatia, focused on helping individuals with disabilities gain vocational skills and integrate into the workforce.

    Centar Stančić is a social care institution under the direct authority of the Ministry of Labour, Pension, Family, and Social welfare, providing social services to over 600 children with disabilities and adults with intellectual or mental disabilities. In accordance with the transformation process, Centar Stančić has established a new system of social services for all persons with disabilities, which includes providing social services at the institution's headquarters and offering social services in the community, with the ultimate goal of increasing their social inclusion and successfully formed three organized housing services in Dugo Selo, Jelkovec, and Vrbovec for adults with disabilities, as well as day centres for children with disabilities operating in Dugo Selo and Vrbovec. Currently, more than 300 children are using various rehabilitation services in the day centre. The participants will be offered interactive sessions with the staff members and service users and small group practice observations.

Using an innovative teaching methodology, they strive to impart knowledge to service users to become more independent, competitive in the labor market, and accepted in society and to enhance the capabilities of people with disabilities for independent living. The participants will be offered small group practice observations of the innovative teaching methodology that they have developed as a Croatian product by organizing culinary competitions for people with disabilities in as many countries as possible and participantion in the world renowed gastro event on voluntary bases (optional).
